Creative Journaling

My 2021 goal for creative journaling &

prompts that encourage writing about art, or art about writing.

Let’s talk about journaling and a quick confession: I can’t journal! As much as I love  writing and crafting I’ve never been able to journal and have always envied those that do and enjoy the benefits of journaling’s introspective moments. I recognize its value, but have never been able to stick to it. I have never been able to just sit, pick a subject, recognize how I’m feeling and write.

Thankfully, when I found this snail community I discovered 2 very important things

  1. The concept of creative journaling

  2. A collection of small businesses & artists I love to support

I’m so amazed by the world of creative journaling that I never knew existed and am inspired to try my hand at journaling once more. I have always been drawn to and inspired by the combination of artwork and writing. It’s one of the reasons I love poetry, and especially illustrated poetry books. Most of the time, I live and breathe for my creative hobby (crafting) and that hobby is what brings me to the blank page. Through creative journaling, I really hope to use that as a motivator to begin journaling about the process and experiences. )Plus who doesn’t love an excuse to buy more craft supplies.) So I’ve set a creative journaling goal for 2021: journal once a week on prompts that have to do with creativity, artwork, art inspirations and/or using products that engage with or support artists in our snail mail community. It’s a great excuse to use those washi samples I always forget about, an even greater excuse to explore more locally made craft supplies! For this project I have started on an Emerging Green Eco Friendly Notebook made with recycled paper (get yours for 10% off using code HIPPIEPOST10 on Amazon).

I hope you’ll join me on a creative journaling challenge and adventure this year! And if you’re anything like me, and struggle with journaling motivation, here are 25 creative journal prompts that encourage writing about art, or making art about writing.
